We are the UpDayton young professionals initiative. Our members are of all ages, and we are passionate about building a better Dayton. We are scientists, lawyers, educators and activists. Our diversity reflects Dayton’s diversity.

Our region has a tremendous history. Our poetry has shattered racial barriers, we have broken codes to help end a great war and we’ve taught the world to fly. We are proud of our past, but we are not immobilized by its passage. The legacy of innovation and creativity in Dayton makes us excited about our future. We are ready for what’s next.

Our night-life is vibrant and our arts are world-class. We have numerous parks and extraordinary museums. We value our short commutes and Dayton’s low cost of living.

We have the largest single-site employer in the state. Our abundant universities and highly skilled students give us more talent potential than most anywhere in the country.

We have all the ingredients to be great.

We are tired of being labeled the rust-belt. For too long we have watched similar communities thrive while ours lags behind. We will not let the divisions from our past stop us from uniting to build a better future. We are committed to say, “no more.”

We are tireless in our commitment to build a better Dayton. We are united by our common vision:

• To harness the creative talent of all people in the Miami Valley to make our region a better place to live
• To connect our young talent and engage them in the region’s decision making
• To restore community to our communities
• To build pride and hope in our region

We are not east Dayton, or west Dayton, or north Dayton or south, but one Dayton. When confronted with the challenges of our region we do not see city or county lines.

We are UpDayton. When someone asks us where we live, we are proud to call Dayton our home.
