The group is currently looking for a design for its Unifying the Divide: Bridge Paint Project. The location for the artwork is a pedestrian bridge that crosses over US 35 and connects the South Park and Oregon District Neighborhoods. To bring more attention and vibrancy to the area, the team has proposed a community street painting extravaganza on May 5, 2012. The team is offering a $500 prize for a design proposed by a Miami Valley-artist or team of artists.
Miami Valley residents are encouraged to apply. No prior public art display experience is necessary to apply, but it is preferred. The deadline to apply has been extended to March 5, 2012. The top designs will be chosen by the Communities Committee after the entry deadline. The top designs will be posted for public vote and a winner will be announced on March 23rd. The winner will be rewarded a $500 prize after the painting is completed on May 5, 2012. For a submission packet, send an email to email@example.com.
Not a designer? There are still plenty of ways you can help! Volunteers are needed to assist in a bridge clean up-day on April 28th to prep the bridge for the next week. Then the group will need assistance painting the design on the pedestrian bridge on May 5th!
Painting supplies are also needed. To volunteer or to find out what supplies you can donate, email project leader Laura Estandia at firstname.lastname@example.org.
