Celebrate the Legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King in Dayton, Ohio

It will be busy in Dayton, OH for the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday on January 19, 2009. Many events are planned across the Miami Valley area to honor Dr. King and his legacy as a prominent leader in the Civil Rights movement. The Margaret Peters School Martin Luther King Program Awards Ceremony
This annual Martin Luther King awards ceremony will be held on Friday, January 16th from 7:00 – 8:30 pm at the University of Dayton, Kennedy Union – The Boll Theater. This formal honoring of Martin Luther King promises to be exciting with the Mistress of Ceremonies being Marsha Bonhart an Anchor/Reporter for WDTN-TV2. The evening’s Invocation will be given by the Reverend Charles Brown, Pastor, Bethel Baptist Church and the Benediction will be delivered by Reverend Roger Godsey-Bell, Pastor of the Otterbein United Methodist Church.
Dayton’s Presidential Inaugural Ball
Dayton’s Presidential Inaugural Ball is being held on Saturday, January 17, 8:00 pm until midnight at the Crowne Plaza in Downtown Dayton. This ball is to celebrate the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and in honor of the historical Inauguration of President-elect Barack Obama. Dayton’s Presidential Inaugural Ball is being co-hosted by The ThirtySomething Group and Mo Better Me Studio and the theme for the evening is “Nothing But Legendary”. Tables can be sponsored for $250 and individual tickets are $30 per person. Dress for the evening is black tie optional.
