We want to thank everyone that joined us for the Summit on April 18th. You inspired us with your energy and enthusiasm for building a better region.
In case you couldn’t stay for the completion of the town hall vote (we’re sorry it took so long), below are the top four action plan ideas or themes:
- A project to engage youth who are in the downtown areas after school in recreational or volunteer activities that are especially coordinated for them.
- A communication hub or centralized website for regional events, attributes, cultural opportunities and more.
- A project to promote and grow Downtown Dayton. The goal of this group is to help better promote and attract popular venues/entertainment options to the center of the city.
- A project to make the Wayne Ave. corridor (between Fifth and Third St.) more pedestrian-friendly. This group wants to create a more interesting, colorful, and lively corridor to connect the Oregon Arts District with the Cannery.

So what’s next? The Summit is not the end of updayton – in fact we’re just getting started. While you’ve given us some interesting ideas, they’re not really projects just yet. We need you to put some meat on them and help us move forward.
Look for info from us very soon to announce the action plan launch event. At the launch we’ll form teams and develop the next level of detail for the ideas above. The launch will be in the evening the week of May 4th – so stay tuned. We promise we won’t be using any clickers.
Finally, if your favorite project didn’t make the top four, no worries. Some of the teams could decide to incorporate parts of the other ideas as they refine the projects above. Plus we’re going to do our best to make sure all ideas devised at the Summit get heard.
